Can an artist who is foreign and non-resident in Albania apply for a grant?

An SCFA grant beneficiary should be based in Albania.

The point C,section 7 of the Local Grants Application Guidelines, requires a portfolio of the works of the artist. Does this suppose the work for the applying project should start before a project application is evaluated?

This does not suppose that the work on the implementation should start beforehead. An artist’s portfolio contains samples of previous works, but does not exclude the possibility of samples from work in progress.

Can an established organization propose a project that includes a young generation of contemporary artists?

In such case, the organization can propose a project that is designed and implemented by the young artists, serving as a supporting and facilitating structure. The CV-s, portfolios and artist statements of the included young artists will be required.

Can a third party submit an application in the name of the artist?

A third party can submit a grant application.

Is the call “PRODUCTION AND EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART WORKS“ a residency program? Can I participate as an artist in residence?

The second call for local grants is not a residency program. SCFA does not offer work or residential space, although the grant can support costs related to temporary work spaces during the project implementation timeline.

What is implied by the term “emerging” independent cultural actors?

An emerging independent cultural actor is an artist or independent cultural organization, in the early stages of their career or activity, who have caught the eye of an art critic and/or gallery and/or audience, but haven’t yet established a solid reputation amongst art critics, art buyers, art galleries, massive audiences, media, etc.

The total duration of a musical album created according to the requirements of the call “PRODUCTION OR PROMOTION FOR ALTERNATIVE MUSIC” is 30-45 minutes. Is the number of the tracks and the duration of each track determined?

The number of the tracks and the duration of each track is not determined by us.

The deadline for the production of a musical album according to the call’s requirements is within 4 months. Is it required that this album should be produced in 4 months?

The production and the publication of the album should be complete within the deadline of 4 months from the date when the grant contract is signed.

The project that we would like to submit is the recording and the promotion of a choir project. Does our project fulfill the requirements of your call?

The call exclusively addresses alternative music (ie. Alternative Rock), recorded and performed through live instruments and electronic sound effects. The call does not specify criteria about the number of voices or vocalists.

Does the call “PRODUCTION OR PROMOTION FOR ALTERNATIVE MUSIC” support the production of a metal album?

The call is oriented towards the production and promotion of alternative music genres (ie. Alternative rock), but does not exclude related genres within the same family.

Can I include tracks that I have produced and released earlier?

Tracks that are published prior to the project implementation, cannot be included in the SCFA supported project.

Does the call “PRODUCTION OR PROMOTION FOR ALTERNATIVE MUSIC” include classical music records?

No. The call does not include the recording of classical music.
